We don't tip UPS, FedEx, USPS... so why them? I don't think so. Customers have some window of time to add tips to the order after it is delivered, and I have gotten delayed tips as a result. You’re not having to leave your house. I think it’s kind of ridiculous that we live in a world where simply doing our job functions is seen as something that we should get paid extra for. Even if I was closer I'd probably do a dollar or two. You aren't paying an annual $99 fee for pizza delivery, that's the difference. If you justify that for not tipping someone who is personally delivering a package at a specific time within two hours of ordering (which UPS and USPS doesn't do) you're trying to come up with an excuse to justify screwing somebody out of earned money. Why tip the driver? The right side of the string is tips and the left side is base pay.

Tip someone that leaves my package at a mailbox hub? I'm seriously reconsidering my amazon default place to buy stuff place. The problem is that customers who might want to tip in cash (which I usually suggest) won’t have any way to do that because if you’ve had any Whole Foods (Amazon Prime Now) deliveries, you know it’s a drop and run task. It's insulting when customers who order a bunch of heavy items, especially when they have to be carried up stairs, either don't tip or tip less than 15%. If you don't want to tip, get off your lazy ass and do the same! It's supposed to benefit the driver. I deliver a lot often and sure I hate customers who are cheap. It did annoy me that it was an option, as it's not something I would normally tip for, but it seems stingy to not do so when given the choice. Why? Eventually, that personal service will be replaced with mass deliveries and less human touch – but for now, I believe in tipping and understand how it helps the bottom line. They also won't tell you how much of your earnings are tips and how much are not.

Of course the customer can decide on a different amount or none at all. The earnings say, for 2 hours, $36-50 depending on tips. Only a few stores are set up for this service. Such orders can be extremely difficult and physically demanding to deliver. However, they often lower the base rate enough so the net earnings is the minimum stated in the block offer. I am a prime member so shipping is free and I get deliveries free of charge , Why is Whole Foods any different , are they drivers with their own cars or that prime truck. Such orders can be extremely difficult and physically demanding to deliver. What do you think of this idea? Tip is optional. Edit 2 (7/25.2015): My Prime Now Experience. I've heard from others in my market that cash tips are happening in increasing frequency for them as well. I scrolled through a bunch of posts to try and find an answer but I couldn't- so forgive me if it's obvious or has been already stated. When ordering fresh food from Amazon (https://primenow.amazon.com/) the delivery person is probably contracted to pick up the food from Whole Foods as it was packed by a Whole Foods (Amazon) employee then placed in a waiting area until your delivery driver picks it up and delivers it. Make sure the driver has a place to park that isn't far from your front door. Amazon can’t force a tip. Don't add instructions that contradict Amazon policies, such as asking to put bags on your kitchen counter. Ramble and Read © 2020. Yes, if your tips exceed the "estimate" you will see them.
