You're probably not going to beat most levels as 2 until you know them pretty well (including cfoam grenades/mine drops), so you can think about each situation and try to balance your loadout for it.

Personally, I found most success in duos with one person using a mine deployer, and the other person using Bio Tracker or Shotgun Sentry.
