This simple and versatile sauce will change your mind about whether or not it’s worth it to add that special finish to your desserts. Use to upgrade waffles, pancakes, crepes, cheesecake, or ice cream.

Blueberry Sauce


  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • pinch of salt


  • In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Slowly whisk in the water until smooth.
  • Add the blueberries, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat, stir constantly. Cook until thick, about 2 - 3 minutes. Some blueberries will remain whole. Makes 3/4 cup.
